Answer: Displaced benign epithelial cells adjacent to papilloma
Histology: none provided
Discussion: The lesion shows a papilloma with sclerosis and no evidence of atypia. It is adjacent to a biopsy tract. Within the biopsy tract, there a small clusters of epithelial cells; the latter are confined to the biopsy site. These represent displaced epithelial cells from the papilloma due to a previous core biopsy. In some cases the displaced cells lack myoepithelial cells (as demonstrated by immunostains), in this case one should be cautious not to interpret them as invasive carcinoma.
