Answer: Juvenile hypertrophy
Histology: The breast tissue resected from the axilla shows ducts with a prominent stroma, but no lobules.
Discussion: Juvenile hypertrophy occurs in 11 to 14 year-olds. In some cases, the growth of breast parenchyma can be dramatic. Microscopically, as in this case, juvenile hypertrophy has an almost gynecomastoid appearance with ducts without lobules surrounded by a prominent cellular stroma. This lesion is benign.
