Question 1 of 1
1. Question
Correct
Answer: D
Histologic Description: The lesion has a rounded or lobular appearance at low power. There is a central larger feeder vessel, associated with clusters or lobules of small capillaries. These are the typical features of pyogenic granuloma/lobular capillary hemangioma.
Differential Diagnosis: Angiosarcoma would demonstrate infiltration and greater cytologic atypia. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma would not contain well-formed vessels, and would feature vacuolated blister cells in a myxochondroid background. Granulation tissue would contain inflamed stroma and capillaries without the lobular pattern and feeder vessels seen in the current lesion.
