Answer: Fibromatosis
Histology:
Discussion: This is a bland spindle cell lesion with no evidence of areas of hypercellularity, mitosis or atypia but with an infiltrative pattern into adjacent fat (and thyroid gland, according to history). It shows a delicate vascular pattern. The lesion represents a recurrent fibromatosis. In contrast to sarcomas or sarcomatoid carcinoma the lesion does not show cytologic atypia. In contrast to scar tissue, fibromatosis is more cellular and immunostain for beta-catenin shows a nuclear expression.
