Answer: Palmar fibromatosis
Histology: none provided
Discussion: Palmar fibromatosis (also known as Dupuytren’s disease) is the most common type of fibromatosis, with 20% of the general population affected by 65 years of age. An association with diabetes, epilepsy, and alcohol has been noted, as well as an association with plantar and penile fibromatosis. Microscopically, palmar fibromatosis can be cellular or fibrous depending on the age of the lesion. Beta-catenin nuclear staining is positive in this lesion, however the percentage of cells that stain is usually less than in deep fibromatoses. Treatment consists of the surgical removal of the lesion.
