Answer: Choroid plexus papilloma
Histology: see below
Discussion: Choroid plexus tumors represent 2-4% of brain tumors that occur in children. Almost 80% of choroid plexus carcinoma arise in children. 50% of the tumors occur in the lateral ventricles and the tumor patients present with hydrocephalus in most cases. Choroid plexus papilloma is positive for keratin, vimentin, and S100. Choroid plexus carcinoma is characterized by cytologic atypia, mitoses, necrosis and mainly brain invasion. The latter should be differentiated from metastatic tumors to the brains that display papillary features such as papillary carcinoma of the thyroid.
