Question 1 of 1
1. Question
Week 539: Case 2
This is a 57 year old female with a pancreatic cyst.images/5545one.jpg

images/5545three.jpgCorrect
Answer: Lymphoepithelial cyst
Histology: This is a bland cystic lesion with a prominent lymphoid cuff and a bland squamous epithelial lining. The squamous epithelial lining shows mature keratinization but lacks significant cytologic atypia. No evidence of mucinous epithelium is seen in the lesion, and no evidence of heterologous elements such as cartilage is present.
Discussion: Mucinous cystic neoplasms would have a mucinous lining surrounded cellular ovarian-type stroma. Intaductal papillary mucinous neoplasms typically involve the main pancreatic ducts, and have a mucinous lining with variable degrees of atypia. Teratomas frequently do not show prominent lymphoid stroma, and feature elements other than squamous epithelium.
