Answer: Epidermoid cyst
Histology: none provided
Discussion: The cyst is lined by squamous epithelium and surrounded by splenic tissue and atrophic pancreatic tissue. The spleen appears to be adjacent to pancreatic tissue (mainly islet cells). There is no evidence of mucinous epithelium or ovarian-like stroma, found in mucinous cystic neoplasms and no evidence of clear cells found in serous cystic tumors. Epidermoid cysts arising in the spleen are not very uncommon. However, there few case reports of epidermoid cyst arising in an accessory spleen in the pancreas, which is the case for this patient.
